WHAT IS HIJAMA?

Hijama (wet cupping) is a traditional practice with roots in Sunnah medicine. During a session, small cups create suction on the skin, followed by a light incision to draw out a small amount of blood. Many clients say they feel lighter or more relaxed afterward, though individual experiences vary. Our practitioners walk you through every step so you know exactly what to expect.

TYPES OF CUPPING & MASSAGE

Dry Cupping

Suction only. Cups are placed on the skin to create suction, then released after a few minutes. No incision, no blood drawn. Often chosen for muscle tension and general relaxation.

Wet Cupping (Hijama)

Suction combined with a light incision to draw out a small amount of blood, following traditional Sunnah practice. This is what most people mean when they say "hijama."

Fire Cupping

A traditional suction method where a brief flame is used inside the cup to create the vacuum, instead of a pump. The flame is removed before the cup touches the skin. No incision, no blood drawn — similar to dry cupping, but using this traditional heat-based technique to create suction.

Cupping Massage

Cups (often with a light oil) are glided across the skin rather than left in place, combining suction with movement for a dynamic, massage-like effect.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Most clients describe the sensation as firm pressure or suction rather than pain. Sensitivity varies depending on the treatment area and individual tolerance. The intensity is adjusted throughout the session to maintain comfort.

Dry cupping, fire cupping and cupping massage all use suction only, with no incision — they differ in how the suction is created (pump, brief flame or gliding movement with oil). Hijama (wet cupping) adds a light incision to draw out a small amount of blood, in keeping with Sunnah tradition.

When performed by a trained practitioner using sterile, single-use equipment, Hijama is considered safe for most healthy individuals.

At KUR Hijama, we follow strict hygiene and procedural protocols to ensure a controlled and professional treatment environment.

The marks (often circular and temporary) may reflect the suction process and typically fade within one to two weeks.

Hijama may not be appropriate for people with certain conditions, including low blood pressure, active bleeding disorders, or pregnancy. We ask about your health history before every session.
